Stranded Stanley
Stanley was a boy who always loved boats, making them out of paper and wooden model kits. He always wanted one day to build a full size boat and set sail for new adventures. His parents helped fund his project and once he graduated high school he started building his boat. Living on the shore made it easy to sail the high seas and he built the boat in his back yard. After a bunch of splinters, failed mounting, and a year of sweat, his handiness paid off and had a boat ready to sail the seas. Stanley got a trailer hitch, towed his boat to the ocean and wish his parents fair well! After 5 days at sea, he came across a weird anomaly and before he knew it passed out. Stanley woke up and found himself on this weird island stranded with a wrecked boat. He sets out to find components to rebuild his boat and hopefully make it back home.

Its a simple, but fun game! Its not so easy that you get bored, but not so difficult that you hate it. The main menu is cool, but loads a little slowly with the animations. I suggest having the menu options fade in, and maybe bounce around a bit after to make the main menu less idle. The only other critique I have is that I run out of food really quickly on the first level, so if there was either a slower food bar or more food to grab it would make the level more balanced. I'd also like to mention that it would probably be a good idea to make some sort of 'try again' button for the death screen so you don't have to manually reload the level. Otherwise, I think the animation is very fluid and Stanley moves really well!
Pros:
-Very fun! Stanley is responsive and moves well
-Reasonable jumping levels
Cons:
-Hit boxes seem off. There were times where I got close but didn't touch and I died
-Wish Stanley had a run button or stamina meter
-End of the Level1 goes to level 3? It's a good transition but out of order on the menu screen
-Stanley and all the collectables seen rather small on the screen.
-Glitch were when I jumped and hit a wall next to the yellow pole, Stanley got stuck in a jump pose but I couldn't jump. He just slid around.
This is a massive improvement compared to the last version of this I play tested! I would maybe change the intro text scroll a touch slower and more of a constant speed rather than slowly speeding up and slowing down. the animations and sprites are loads better than they were before! I would also add the up button on the arrow keys as a jump button along side the space bar. The sound is also really great!
The game has massively improved from the last time. I like the new sprites and the increased difficulty. somethings to add are a restart button so I don't need to go to the main menu every time. it was a fun game to play.
I love the update. The background and character blend very well. I think if there is a way you might want to make it so the character can jump up through the platforms but land on them at the same time. There is much more variety with the new layout and doesn't feel repetitive. I love the addition of the little plant baddies, so cute. Might want to draw attention to the health when getting hit or starving since it's not too noticeable. I think it would also be awesome to say how you died (Starvation, Man-eating plant, Spiky pit of doom, etc.).Great job with everything! Takes me back to side scrollers and was fun to play.
What a fun game! The art and gameplay are very enjoyable. I love the dash function and everything is pretty fluid. There are some textures in the first level that are a little confusing visual-wise whether or not you can walk through/on top of things and the music is unfitting with the visuals; overall a great game so far! Good work!
This is an excellent game! Even though I couldn't get passed the first level (The Forset), I was genuinely impressed by this. Though, there are elements I would change such as either putting more food around the area or making the food bar move less, and maybe adding a dash bar to signify when we can dash again. Overall, I can see this game being a great portfolio item if it ever got big.
Fun game, I really like the animations, in the beginning the controls felt a bit slow and slow to respond but by the end I got used to it. The only thing that I feel you could work on is some of the sprites for the ground. The grass in the first level in some ways felt like is was cut off and should have still gone even of the sides of the floor if that makes sense.
